Karen Eley, a Certified Money Coach, brings over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, including 18 years as a Financial Adviser. Recognising the limitations of traditional financial advice in addressing psychological and emotional facets of money management, she established a money coaching practice in 2019.

Karen focuses on the psychological and emotional aspects, addressing the behavioural biases and beliefs, financial anxiety and other emotions and challenging behaviours associated with money.

She combines her 18 years financial adviser background with insights from behavioural economics, psychology, and mindfulness to help clients uncover the root causes of their financial challenges and support them develop healthier relationships with money.

Karen’s superpower is not budgets and spreadsheets (although she’s a whiz at those) but being able to deeply understand the unique money personality, values, and beliefs that influence people’s financial decisions.

Karen is a Certified Money Coach (CMC) ®, holds a Bachelor of Accounting and an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and CFP. She holds director positions on Investment boards and committees.

Resident finance advice expert and review contributor for Finder, Karen’s insights have been featured in various prominent platforms. As a former shoe addict (yes, she understands the temptation of wants vs saving) she is committed to showing people what’s possible with money, from both a practical and psychological perspective.
